I believe that the most important criteria in choosing a college or boarding school is the match. That is, how well the student’s abilities, talents, interests and values match the philosophy, mission, purpose and strengths of a particular institution. The best way to ensure a good fit is through research. The more a student knows about schools BEFORE applying, the better prepared they will be to make appropriate and suitable choices and applications. Each family should understand that there is no perfect school. In each case, the student must prioritize and balance their needs and wishes and try to determine schools that, in different ways, meet those criteria. I can help students and their families make the best decisions in regard to school selection, applications and choice. As a specialist in educational planning, I assist each student individually with the search and application process, offering clarification, guidance, judgment and expertise. However, it is my fundamental belief that the final responsibility and decision-making should remain with the students and their families. It is my goal to support, encourage and assist each student and their family through this process, although ownership of the process and product ultimately belongs to the student and to the student alone.
